Brian Clough game
Adapted small sided games (SKILL – PASSING)
EQUIPMENT: 2 sets of bibs and balls
Brian Clough had his teams play lots of 5v5 games in training and liked them to keep it simple and pass the ball on the ground.
No keepers – no players in the D (or marked out area).
Use small goals so players have to get close by passing.
No balls above head height to encourage good passing angles and build up play.
“If God had wanted us to play football in the clouds, he’d have put grass in the sky”
Brian Clough“Brian Clough kept things very, very simple. Before my first game for Forest he said to me, ‘you get it, pass to a red shirt, and you move.’ That was his advice and I made a career out of it.”
Roy Keane
